“A total area of 23,905 hectare or one lakh bigha will be irrigated from these nine projects, which will use water from the nearby rivers in different parts of Lakhisarai district,” Nitish said. He said the construction work on all the nine projects would begin within a week and it had been decided to complete these projects in 15 months. “I believe all these projects will be completed by March 2020,” Nitish said.

The CM further said works on the state government’s pending irrigation projects had been accelerated after the WRD’s division into three wings, irrigation, flood control and monitoring.

"Prior to the trifurcation, majority of WRD engineers used to be engaged only in flood control related works. Resultantly, the irrigation projects used to get delayed. Now, works on the irrigation projects have been sped up and state’s irrigation capacity has been increased,” Nitish said.
